Polo was first played in Sotogrande in the mid-sixties, with the sport still informing the resort’s classic style. But nor is the polo scene reserved for an elite few. At Sotogrande’s heart is the Santa Maria Polo Club and host of the International Polo tournament each August, which is part of the sport’s global Grand Slam and this summer holding its 45th edition during the month of August. Various events to also take place across the Spring, Summer and Winter seasons and welcome participants, both on the pitch and cheering from the sidelines.
